Yair Yépez joins the We Get Around team today (17 August 2015) as Associate Photographer and Architect to help Atlanta residential and commercial real estate agents win more listings by helping the agents differentiate their marketing plans. Yair is also an Architect with 14 years of experience in the Architectural Design industry in North America working in his native Mexico; Canada and the United States. Yair is a certified LEED® AP by the US Green Building Council, an Autodesk® multiple platforms power user and a technology enthusiast.

Yair started at CH2M HILL, one of the most prestigious companies in Architecture and Engineering consulting, designing for top tier clients such as Nissan, The Home Depot, Daimler, Karp & Reilly, Stockade Companies, Michelin and Unilever. During his career Yair had the good fortune of experiencing and implementing the transition from typical CAD (computer aided design) to intelligent BIM (Building Information Modeling) which is still the standard for digital tools for AEC and Interior Design.
As a passionate and talented photographer, he experimented with more than just capturing the built environment in gorgeous photographs, but also by scanning and capturing reality with photogrammetry and laser scanning technology (LiDAR) and bringing that power into his digital design tools. “Scanning everyday objects and capturing and managing the built and natural environment will be the most important tool for the design industry in the next years,"" said Yair.
"Never we will have to start from scratch again, now and in the future we will start designing with captured reality," Yair said about how design is becoming more sustainable, eco-friendly and efficient thanks to technology.
From the early days of the Matterport platform, he was impressed in how a low-cost scanning technology could combine a accurate enough 3D scan with photography. “This is a revolutionary technology. It combines infrared scanning, 360 photography and photogrammetry in one single device,” said Yair. He joined the early Matterport beta testing program in Summer 2013. As soon as he received his first Matterport camera Yair started scanning and experimenting with the technology.
“Back then the camera only made 3D scans and it was kind of slow, but totally worthy to have all the dimensions of a room at hand in a single intuitive file," said Yair. During this beta test he and many other Matterport scanning enthusiasts helped Matterport to brainstorm and develop software such as 3D Showcase and VR Showcase which is used and loved by many Matterport clients today.
Yair met We Get Around Founder, CEO and Chief Photographer Dan Smigrod when Yair joined the Matterport User Group Forum in August 2013.
