The Atlanta Children's Shelter provides free, quality day care, emotional support, an educational curriculum for homeless children and focused social services for their families.

"For sponsors and donors, for example, that may not be able to visit Atlanta Children's Shelter, the We Get Around three-dimensional walk-around lets them experience this special place," says Dan. "Our walk-around enables everyone to feel like they are there; including experiencing the great classrooms, playgrounds and conference room."
"In 2013, we served 68 homeless children and 45 homeless families," writes Atlanta Children's Shelter Executive Director Sandy Keating, Esq. in the the non-profit's 2013 Annual Report. "We helped 36 homeless parents (77%) find gainful stable employment and we helped 22 families (54%) obtain permanent housing. After achieving self-sufficiency with the Shelter's help, families can choose to enter our Aftercare Program. In 2013, Aftercare saw great success with 17 parents (74%) maintaining employment and 19 (100%) maintaining housing for one full year."

Atlanta Children's Shelter helps families overcome the issues that contribute to homelessness, including domestic violence (46 percent) and job loss (36 percent). The shelter focuses on the long term self sufficiency of the family – which sets it apart of other Atlanta homeless shelters. Since 1986, the Atlanta Children's Shelter has cared for almost 8,000 homeless children and provides services for more than 5,000 homeless families.
Atlanta Children's Shelter is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. ACS expects to be accredited this year by the Georgia Alliance to End Homelessness.
