Demo Video: Matterport + Samsung Gear VR (powered by Oculus) uses both mesh and pano data when viewing models from Matterport 3D Showcase. The Oculus Rift uses the Matterport object file (.obj) which by definition do not include pano data (only .obj).

A tectonic shift in the earth's rotation will take place the day that Matterport 3D Showcase + Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus is commercially available. Today, we'll have to settle for simulated demos at the Consumer Electronics Show (How 3D Sensors are Transforming Computing).

While We Get Around Chief Photographer – Dan Smigrod – talks about Matterport 3D Showcase WalkAround virtual tours on an smartphone, tablet or desktop as "crazy-exciting" – imagine a completely immersive, tactical experience like the Holodeck, a simulated reality facility located on starships and starbases.
Imagine making a location-based decision as if you were already on the Holodeck: a get-there-before-you-go-experience.
In 2015, the future arrives in the mashup of Matterport 3D Showcase plus:
- Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus
- Google Cardboard
- Oculus Rift (Matterport conversion to Oculus Rift)
- Other devices not yet announced
